Need to start quite early from Kathmandu) same way back flight from Lukla to Ramechhap and drive to Kathmandu 4-5 hours.
Alternative program due to Kathmandu/Ramechhap to Lukla flight cancellations.
Weather condition in the Himalayan region can change rapidly so it makes change our trekking. Sometime the flight from Kathmandu/Ramechhap to Lukla cancelled due to bad weather or due to high wind.
In this case we have some options.
Option 1. We wait 1 day in Kathmandu or in Ramechhap and try next day to flight to Lukla and continue our trek. If flight operate we miss 1 day of trek, we will then follow the same program to EBC but on the way back over one less day in order to take our return flight to Kathmandu on day 15. If flight can’t operate 2nd day then either we wait 1 more days or take helicopter flight to Lukla or nearest heli pad.
Option 2. If the Lukla flight is cancel due to bad weather, there is option to flight by helicopter. We will charter a helicopter to transport group to Lukla or nearest heli pad. Helicopter can flight less visibility. Travelers will need to pay the cost of chartered helicopter flight. The cost will depend how many of you are in the group (1 helicopter carry 5 passengers) and could be up to USD 500 per person. It is common practice for the helicopter company to charge different price so sometime you may pay different price.
If 2 or 3 days continually flight cancel, then your trek may short (we miss our extra acclimatization day). Your guide will let you know what to do.
