Itinerary
On arrival at Tribhuvan International airport our representative will transfer you to your hotel (3-star hotel including bed and breakfast). The first group meeting with your guide will be at 5 pm after checking into the hotel.
On the second day our experienced guide will provide a half-day city tour in Kathmandu. The top places to visit on that day are Swayambhunath and Kathmandu Durbar Square. We'll arrange transportation and provide an experienced city cultural guide to accompany the group, providing informative commentary. The tour starts after breakfast, beginning with Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple. It's the oldest stupa in the world, and from the top, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Kathmandu Valley. The guide will share insights into its rich history and cultural significance. After Swayambhunath, we'll proceed to Kathmandu Durbar Square, where you'll encounter the old palace and numerous temples, each telling a unique story. You might get an opportunity to see the living goddess Kumari at Kathmandu Durbar Square.
On the first day of the trek, we will begin by driving to Besishar (800m), followed by Jagat. After an early breakfast, we will begin our journey to Besishar via the Prithivi highway. The drive to Besishar typically takes around 5-6 hours. Upon reaching Besishar, we will have a quick lunch before continuing our journey to Jagat. From Besishar we will take a local jeep to Jagat, which usually takes approximately 2-4 hours. Jagat is a small and beautiful village where you will spend the night. During the mountain highway drive, we will get to enjoy the scenic views of the lower green forest and rice fields, adding to the overall experience.
The trek begins from Jagat early in the morning, passing through the narrow Marsyangdi valley. Along the trails, we will encounter lush tropical forests, numerous waterfalls, beautiful villages, and cross suspension bridges over the Marsyangdi river. Expect a relatively long trek today, lasting around 6-7 hours and covering a distance of approximately 13 km.
Another beautiful day starts with a trek to Chame village, the administrative center of the Manage District following the same valley. In the morning, we will ascend to Timang, offering a breathtaking view of Manaslu, the 8th highest peak in the world. After Timang the route is a gradual climb, some up and down with green pine forest. We have to walk around 5-6 hours to reach Chame, a small town located on Marsyangdi bank. You can take some time to stroll around the village and explore its surroundings.
The trek from Chame to Pisang is one of the beautiful and relaxing treks with the view of pine forest and Marsyangdi river. Along the way, you can enjoy the beautiful view of Lamjung himal, Annapurna ii and Pisang peak. We will travel passing Bratang village, viewing apple farms and another small village Dukur pokhari. It takes 4-5 hours to reach Pisang. In the afternoon you can visit upper Pisang village and Monastery.
The trek from Pisang to Manang is a long one so we will start our journey early in the morning. Two distinct routes lead to Manang, and we will go for the one passing through Gyaru and Ngawal villages, providing the best view of the Annapurna Mountain range. The path involves a steep climb to Gyaru, followed by mostly gradual terrain with occasional ups and downs. En route, we'll encounter isolated villages such as Gyaru, Ngawal, and Brakha before reaching Manang. The trail provides a wide valley experience, situated just beneath tall mountains and surrounded by pine forests.
The day is reserved for acclimatization. You can have a good rest, but your guide will take you on a short-day hike around Ganggapurna lake and a viewpoint where you see the best view of Ganggapurna glacier and Mt. Ganggapurna 7,454m, Mt. Annapurna iii 7,555m, Mt. Tare Khang 7,069m and other mountains. After lunch, you can visit Himalayan rescue center or somewhere enjoy some mountain documentaries.
The trek from Manang to Yak Kharka is a short and easy one. The trek takes approximately 4-5 hours, reaching an elevation of 650 meters. Feel free to take multiple breaks and stay hydrated during the trek. Along the way, we will encounter scenic grasslands, Yaks, Naks, and perhaps some wildlife. The delightful view of the Annapurna range and other mountains adds to the joy of your day. After reaching Yak Kharka, take a good rest and enjoy a peaceful sleep.
The other short trek to Thorang Phedi will take about 3-4 hours. We will keep climbing gradually, going above the treeline, so make sure to stay hydrated throughout the trek. We will stop for lunch at a cozy tea house, but the food might not be good. In the afternoon, you can choose to take a walk to high camp for acclimatization. It's important to rest well and go to bed early because we will begin our trek early the next morning.
This is the most challenging and significant part of the trek. We will be crossing Throng-la at (5,416m), the highest point of our journey. To make the climb easier, we'll start before 5 AM from Phedi, using our headlamps to light the way. It's a challenging ascent, and you'll feel the altitude, but the breathtaking views of Chulu West peak and the sunrise on Throng peak and Yakwakang peak make it all worthwhile. Once we reach the top of Throng-la, at 5,416 meters, take the opportunity for individual and group pictures before beginning the descent. After enjoying the moment, we'll start descending, heading towards Muktinath. Here, you'll experience very different landscapes often referred to as a mini-Tibet in Nepal, particularly in the Mustang region. Along the way, consider visiting the Muktinath temple and experiencing the spiritual significance by taking a holy shower in the 108 waterspouts within the temple area. After such an intense day, you'll likely need some well-deserved rest.
From Muktinath, there is the option of driving to Jomsom, but the trek offers a unique and special experience. As we start this journey, it feels like we are passing by a part of Tibet, following the Kali Gandaki riverbank. Along the way, we will come across a distinctive rock known as Saligram (Fossil). After a few hours of descent, the terrain becomes flat, providing an enjoyable walk to Jomsom. It's important to reach Jomsom before noon, or else the valley experiences strong winds later in the day. Your guide will organize a local jeep or bus for the journey to Ghasa, along with locals from the area.
The trek from Ghasa to Tatopani is really exciting as we get to pass through the world's deepest gorge, Kaligandaki. We'll be walking on an old trekking path, and since the weather will be warm, it's a good idea to wear comfortable shorts. After a 5–6-hour walk, we'll reach Tatopani. Upon arrival, check into the hotel, take some rest, and then head to enjoy a relaxing natural hot spring bath.
As we make our way to Sikha, we will relish the enchanting green forests and the picturesque Magar village. The Gurung and Magar communities, renowned for their contributions to the Gurkhas in the British military, add cultural richness to the journey. The trek spans 4-5 hours, featuring a continuous ascent on a warm day. Enjoy the beauty of rice fields and engage with friendly local people along the way.
The trek from Shikha to Gorepani is a gradual ascent, providing a magnificent view of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m). On the way, you will pass through a charming rhododendron forest. In March and April, the area is filled with colorful rhododendron flowers, making the scenery even more beautiful. Take your time to relish the journey and enjoy the beauty of Gorepani upon arrival.
We will start our trek early in the morning to witness the breathtaking sunrise view from Punhill (3,210m), especially on the majestic Mt. Dhaulagiri. The journey to Punhill and back usually takes about 1 to 2 hours. We will have breakfast at Gorepani and commence the trek towards Birethanthi. The path mostly goes downhill, leading through a scenic rhododendron forest and passing by Banthanti, Ulleri, Tikhedungga, and Hile villages. As this marks the final day of your trek and the last day with the Nepali team, make it special with a celebratory gathering or party.
Today, we will commence a 2-hour drive to Pokhara. Upon arrival, check into the hotel, freshen up with a refreshing shower. The day in Pokhara is free, and there are no scheduled activities. You can have the option to engage in various activities in Pokhara, such as paragliding, bungee jumping, visiting the International Mountaineering Museum, exploring Davi's Fall, and visiting the Tibetan Refugee Camp. If you wish to engage in any specific activities, please inform your guide, and we will arrange them for you. Otherwise, Pokhara is an excellent place for souvenir shopping. In the evening, explore and enjoy the city, find a nice restaurant, and have a delightful time.
You will take a scenic flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.
Check out time from the hotel at 12 noon. Our representative will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your final departure. You must reach the airport 3 hours before departure.
